I gave in and purchased an Air Fryer!
I wanted to try it out on something simple and choose the asparagus.
The Air Fryer is pretty simple to use. You push one button and it turns on. You push that button again and it's set to cook for 15 minutes at 350. There are other buttons for fish, steak, chicken, etc which are presets. So far, so good!
Here's the issue I see with Air Fryers. I think the Air Fryer lends itself to the thought that you are cooking healthier, which you are, however, I can see the temptation to still cook unhealthy foods or eat bigger servings.
If you are working on losing weight, this could be a great addition to your kitchen. I just need to remember to be careful what I'm choosing to cook in it. It will definitely come in handy during the summer months when it's too hot to turn on that oven.
I sprayed the asparagus with cooking spray (not aerosol). Seasoned it with salt and pepper. I cooked it in the Air Fryer for 12 minutes on 350. I definitely could have gone a few more minutes, they were a bit too crunchy for my taste.
There will be a learning curve on times and temp but I did receive a guide and some recipes. All in all, I'm looking forward to playing around with this new toy!
The asparagus was 0 points on Weight Watchers Freestyle Program.
(The sandwich was a turkey and cheese melt on Lavash Flatbread for 2 pts.)
